Why Stockholm

Stockholm has a proud history of advancing new concepts to help us understand the world around us. Fifty years ago, the UN conference on the human environment was held in the city. This led to the creation of the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP), often regarded as the beginning of the climate movement. A decade ago, the Stockholm Resilience Centre launched the foundational concept of planetary boundaries as a framework for understanding a range of critical environmental tipping points.

It seems only natural that the next step in framing and understanding the challenge faced by humanity would come from here.
